Arsene Wenger confirms major Arsenal injury boost as 28-year-old returns

Sanchez has one year left on his current contract but Arsene Wenger has said that last season's top scorer will be at the club this season, even if there is no progress on an extension to his deal.

It's little wonder some of Europe's elite might look to poach the Chile worldwide after Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League last season.

Sanchez will miss Arsenal's Premier League opener with Leicester City on Friday night due to an abdominal strain, with Wenger having said this week he is "out for a while".

Pushed on whether the club had received any offers for Sanchez, specifically from Paris Saint-Germain, Wenger said: 'No, I didn't speak to Nasser (Al-Khelaifi, PSG chairman). They are on (Kylian) Mbappe's case, that's what I read in the papers. "He practised well today, this morning, had a good session for the first time because he had a little muscular strain".

Alexis Sanchez is now in Paris with his agent and lawyer.

PSG and Manchester City have both been mooted as potential destinations for the Chilean, but Wenger says that the club have yet to receive a formal bid for the forward.

PH: No reports of Chinese activities on West PH Sea
With the concerted efforts of countries in the region, the situation in the South China Sea has stabilised, he said. The South China Sea has always been a source of territorial disputes between several Asian countries.

Arsenal have signed two players so far this summer as they prepare to try and challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Sun say the injury plagued star thinks his time at Arsenal is coming to an end.

Wenger also dismissed Chelsea's reported interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, saying he is still firmly in his first-team plans. Some players rush into deals because they think they have to go to avoid getting found out.

'I can take a gamble on one, maybe maximum two, but I focus more on the players who had the right number of competitive minutes in recent weeks'.

'I have plenty of uncertainties about the players who didn't play against Chelsea (in the Community Shield),' said Wenger.
