"North Korea is a serious thing", Ellison, D-Minn., told attendees at the NetrootsNation conference during a question-and-answer session.

"That was one of those I wish I'd not said", Ellison, who also serves as the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, told The Washington Post shortly after he made the accusation. "It's tailor-made for somebody to misuse".

"Here you have a situation where the president is just clearly just making it up as he goes along and trying some bellicose language because he thinks that will work", Soderberg said in an interview with "Power Lunch". "I'd say [Trump's] being incredibly irresponsible and he's putting us in a situation where you could have an accidental launch". Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path! I mean, his rhetoric might make Kim Jong Un think that he needs to strike first.

"So, clearly North Korea is doing this as a defensive measure", he said, referring to Pyongyang's nuclear and missile program development.
