Yogi blames 'fake media', probe report admits oxygen supply broke down

Giving the stats on previous year deaths at the BRD college, Singh had said, "The paediatric deaths which took place are in August are- 567 in 2014 (19 per day), 668 in 2015 (22 per day) and 587 in 2016 (19.5 per day)".

He further informed that he has asked a team of top ministers to determine if the death of the children was actually due to a disruption in oxygen supply at the hospital and assured to "not spare anyone found guilty".

Baba Raghav Das Medical College said 34 babies died at the hospital's neo-natal intensive care unit, 12 died because of encephalitis, and the rest died of other unspecified causes.

They also said that a probe, led by the state chief secretary, had been ordered. Haasan took to Twitter and requested Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take Nobel Laureate Kailash Sathyarti's advice seriously, so that nothing like this happens ever again.

Vaibhav Maheshwari, state spokesman of AAP told IANS "it was a matter of shame that the Chief Minister was mum on such a serious issue and that the state government was trying to defuse facts".

Dr Kafeel Khan, the head of the encephalitis ward and a paediatrician, managed to save many lives.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Lok Sabha constituency of Gorakhpur has seen at least 114 deaths due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) this year alone.

PH: No reports of Chinese activities on West PH Sea
With the concerted efforts of countries in the region, the situation in the South China Sea has stabilised, he said. The South China Sea has always been a source of territorial disputes between several Asian countries.

Praveen Modi, owner of Pushpa Sales company, which used to supply oxygen to the BRD Medical College, categorically denied that it had the tender to do so.

"Even as 90 jumbo oxygen cylinders were pressed into service to maintain the supply on Friday, the hospital ran out of oxygen around 1.00am", it said.

Speaking to NDTV, Ajay Shukla, whose 17 days old daughter, Sarika Shukla, too was among 63 children, who died at BRD hospital, said, "Oxygen levels were low two days ago too".

Yogi Adityanath condemned the Gorakhpur hospital deaths adding that proper investigation will be carried out. Twenty-three children died between Wednesday and Thursday.

The children's deaths have sparked a political row, with the hospital authorities accused of negligence. Hence there was no oxygen shortage. "Prime Minister has also sent Union Health Minister JP Nadda to take cognizance of the situation", said Adityanath. "For this goal the central government will release Rs 85 crore", said Nadda.

They said patients' families were given self-inflating bags to help the children breathe.
