American Tourist In Germany Does Nazi Salute, Gets Beaten Up

German police say a drunken American male tourist was punched by a passer-by as he gave the stiff-armed Nazi salute multiple times in downtown Dresden. The 41-year-old American tourist suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault. A police test showed that he was heavily intoxicated with a blood alcohol level of 0.276 percent. The tourist's assailant escaped the scene of the attack and is being sought by law enforcement on charges of bodily harm.

The police have launched a procedure for the use of "symbols of unconstitutional organizations" by the tourist.

The Nazi salute, Hitlergruß in German, is performed with the right arm straight and pointed forward slightly at an angle upward with palm down.
