Cullen to return for 20th season, but it'll be with Minnesota

Cullen signed a 1-year, $1 million deal with his former team Wednesday - which includes $700,000 in potential bonuses, the Star Tribune in Minnesota reported.

This is Cullen's second time with the Wild.

Cullen, who turns 41 in November, was leaning toward retirement in June after winning a second consecutive Stanley Cup with the Penguins. "But I fully expect this will be the last one".

But the Hong Kong government has denied this, saying there was "absolutely no basis" to claims of political motives. The three were immediately taken to serve their sentences of up to eight months.

The 40-year-old recorded 31 points in 72 games with the Penguins last season and won 51.2% of faceoffs. He also went to high school in Minnesota and played two seasons for St. Cloud State.

Matt Cullen has chosen life in Minnesota over returning to the reigning and defending Stanley Cup Champions.

Cullen had worn the colors of the Wild, from 2010 to 2013. In the past two Cup Final clinching games, Cullen was heavily used by Penguins coach Mike Sullivan.
