Doom guy is in Quake Champions

Quake Champions is the first entry in the Quake series since 2005's Quake 4, and has been in open beta since May 12.

Quake Champions delivers the dark mythos of the first Quake combined with the groundbreaking multiplayer mayhem of Quake III Arena with a major modern twist - Champions. While the game will eventually be free-to-play, this current Early Access period will require a payment $29.99 (25% off the usual price of $39.99). Originally Champions was advertised as a free to play title and it is clear from the titles core design that this is still the case: renting champions, multiple forms of currency and loot boxes are all still in the game.

Quake Champions leaves closed beta and enters Early Access on Steam and the Bethesda.net launcher on Tuesday 22nd August - and when it does you can play as the guy you play as in Doom. It will come with four different game modes, eleven Champions, several maps as well as an active CBT community. You'll then have the option to upgrade to the "full" version or you can buy champions individually (similar to how the game will work when it finally launches as free-to-play). There's no word yet on when the free-to-play version will go live; however, Bethesda stated that if you've already been playing the beta, you can continue to play a limited, free version of the Early Access release that only lets you play as Ranger.

The Smith controversy has also intruded into the All Blacks' match preparation. New Zealand Rugby has opened a fresh inquiry to consider the new evidence.

Bethesda also announced that the next playable character coming to Quake Champions is the Doom guy (whose official name is Doom Slayer). Players new to Quake Champions will need to either buy the Champions Pack or wait until free-to-play mode launches at a later date. If you want to try it out next week, you'll have to purchase the Champions Pack.

Lore System: Players will find Lore Items hidden throughout Arenas in vases.
