Another surprise absentee is Monaco and France starlet Kylian Mbappe, the 18-year-old who set the world alight with his performances in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League.

Of the current Spanish and European champions, seven players feature in all - namely Ronaldo, Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos.

Conte hoisted the Premier League title in his first season on English shores, bagging a record-breaking 30 wins en route to his fourth league title in his last four seasons in club football (the other three triumphs were with Juventus).

Premier League representation is not particularly high, with just Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Harry Kane, Alexis Sanchez, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante worthy of merit.

Brazil coach Tite has been nominated for FIFA's World Coach of the Year award.

The main contender for the award is considered the French coach of real Madrid Zinedine Zidane, under whose leadership the "Cream" became the first club in the history of the Champions League, defended the status of the victor.

Real also won La Liga, the first time they had been champions of Spain and Europe in the same year since 1958.

Holland forward Vivianne Miedema is also a contender for The Best FIFA Women's Player, while Carli Lloyd, who spent part of last season on loan at Manchester City, is another among the 10 shortlisted.

Barcelona forward Lieke Martens and Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema, both winners of the women's Euro 2017 with the Netherlands, are also on the list.

The vote among the coaches and captains of national teams, media representatives and fans will be held from 21 August to 7 September.

By holding their awards ceremony in late October FIFA will be handing out their awards long before the Ballon d'Or takes place in December as the two awards compete for the prestige they previously shared.
