HTC slashes the price of the Vive VR headset

The Oculus Rift, which also saw a recent temporary price drop to $399/£399 for the complete bundle has been the closest competitor in technical ability, but the Sony PlayStation VR has been the most commercially successful at its £350 price point, despite limitations and additional cost for hardware to use it.

"Our goal at VIVE has always been to offer the best and most advanced VR system and drive mass market adoption for VR across the globe". In the blog post, HTC describes the Vive as the "global leader in high-end VR" and celebrates the success of the Viveport subscription in providing revenue streams for VR developers, as well as listing some of the big names - including Google, Apple and Volkswagen - who have been working with the company to create new virtual reality content. This is a huge discount and the only reason why HTC is doing it is because it wants to make it more appealing towards customers to purchase accessories. "This is not about clearing the channel to make room for another product". Up until now the HTC Vive had been sold for $799, a noticeable premium over its competition, in a kit containing the HMD, two motion controllers, and two base stations for tracking. However, the Oculus Rift pricing is much more prone to changing, and this is only a discounted price - rather than the new R.R.P.

Andromeda: No More Single-Player Updates or Content Planned
However, It's worth noting that new multiplayer content will be added in the form of missions and character kits. Let us know in our discussions and join us on Discord , on our Facebook page , or Twitter!

At this year's E3, Bethesda announced that the upcoming Fallout 4 VR and Doom VFR would be releasing on the Vive, with Fallout scheduled to drop this coming October. In addition, Viveport Subscription allows consumers to choose from over 250 pieces of content from a highly-curated offering, giving consumers another opportunity to discover the best VR content available. "We do want to make sure that things that we make around the Vive today continue to work with it". "Vive is now at the forefront of the push to take VR to the mainstream".
