If you missed the solar eclipse this week, you'll have another opportunity to witness the natural phenomenon in 2024.

The next USA solar eclipse will take place on April 8th, 2024, passing from Texas to ME, with the Canadian city of Montreal being able to see the totality as well.

However, the total eclipse the next year will likely be the more highly-anticipated event.

Thousands of eclipse glasses were sold or distributed through schools, public viewing parties, retailers and science museums in Fort Wayne for the Great American Eclipse.

In specific, a strip of totality reaching from OR to SC witnessed the breathtaking moment of total darkness as the Moon blocked the sun entirely. Those that will be affected directly by the path of the sun, moon and earth's alignment are Austin, Texas; Dallas; Little Rock, Arkansas; Indianapolis; Toledo, Cleveland and Akron, Ohio; Buffalo and Rochester, New York, Montpelier, Vermont and Montreal.

Given the planning by many in preparation for the 2017 eclipse, you might want to start making your hotel and travel arrangements now.

Astronomers Without Borders also plans to collect unwanted glasses and redistribute them to people in other countries for future eclipses. But skywatchers won't have to wait that long for the next one, which is set to take place on April 8, 2024.

Projections place parts of southeast Oklahoma in the path of 100 percent totality - coming as close to the immediate area as Talihina and Poteau - and predict that McAlester could see as much as 98.77 percent totality.
