Mumbai blasts verdict: Abu Salem , Karimullah Khan get life imprisonment

Life Sentence has been given to Abu Salem and Karimullah Khan by the special Terrorist and Disruptive Activity (TADA) Court who were convicted in the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts case.

Convict Riyaz Siddiqui has been sentenced to 10 years. Karimullah Shaikh and Riaz Siddiqui have also been convicted under TADA and other charges.

Tahir Merchant was convicted under section IPC 120 B, IPC 302, IPC 307, IPC 324, IPC 326, IPC 201, IPC 212, Arms act, Explosive Act, 3 (3) TADA Act.

The court in June found six men guilty of involvement in a series of blasts in the city of Mumbai in 1993 that killed 257 people and wounded 800, the latest in scores of convictions related to India's most deadly bombings.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had requested life imprisonment for Abu Salem and another terrorist and death sentence for three.

Karumullah Khan was a close associate of prime accused Tiger Memon, who remains absconding. The court found Dossa guilty of playing a key role in hatching the conspiracy and supplying arms and ammunitions for the same. The CBI had also claimed that Dossa, Merchant and Feroz, were "main conspirators". According to Deepak Salve, Dawood Ibrahim, Tiger Memon, Anees Ibrahim and others were present during the first meeting.
