Nintendo Urges Public: Don't Pay More Than $80 for SNES Classic

Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or SNES mini for short, won't run into the same sorts of supply shortages that befell its NES mini predecessor, according to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime. Did you learn by hard experience with the NES Classic, surfing eBay and Amazon and seeing all the scumbag scalpers with their multiple units on sale for hundreds of pounds? Instead, he said that production for the NES Classic was based on the fact that other retro consoles before the NES Classic were low sellers.

Despite retailing for $79.99, the NES Classic was going for upwards of $200 on eBay nearly immediately. "I would strongly urge you not to over-bid on an SNES Classic on any of the auction sites", Fils-Aimé said. Reports of customers using a bot that could rapidly snap up the early pre-orders were also widespread.

Putin: North Korea will 'eat grass' before giving up nukes
Placing U.S. tactical nuclear weapons in South Korea would make clear the intent to use nukes in a crisis. South Korea says the aim of stronger sanctions is to draw North Korea into dialogue.

Either way, we reckon that if you want a Switch or have promised to get someone the console for Christmas, you ought to start throwing money at Nintendo and authorised retailers. And there is a potential that demand is going to outstrip supply.

"Certainly the demand is there, and our supply chain is there" to hit the goal of 10 million sales, says Fils-Aime, but it remains to be seen whether or not it will be possible to meet that demand. "It depends on our ability to make more", he added. While the Japanese manufacturer is making good on these promises, it is concerned that the demand might be too high for supply to keep up with. But Nintendo officials say there's still a good chance to get what's expected to be one of the holiday season's hottest gifts. If you want a Switch, you're still going to have to fight for it.
