Met Éireann have released TWO separate weather warning this afternoon

The Met Office said winds could gust up to 75mph in exposed places from 20:00 on Tuesday until 10:00 on Wednesday.

Damage to trees and perhaps buildings, as well as power cuts are expected, while flying debris and large coastal waves are possible and could cause injuries.

Severe winds are expected to transfer to parts of the east coast later this evening or early tonight.

Heavy rain will spread eastwards to all parts of the country throughout the day as the winds pick up speed during the afternoon.

The Met Office has issued a WEATHER ALERT for WIND and RAIN for Ayrshire valid from 1600 hours on Tuesday 12th September until 1000 hours Wednesday 13th September.

He said that whatever decision is made, it will be hard to imagine anyone else wearing the other number. Bryant isn't yet eligible for enshrinement, but the team is confident he will be inducted.

A Met Office rain warning said: "30 to 40 mm of rain falling within six to nine hours seems likely to lead to flooding of some sections of road and perhaps also properties".

Travel disruption is likely with longer journey times by road, rail and air and restrictions on roads and bridges.

Today will begin dry in most places but Met Éireann say cloud will increase.

There will be fewer showers on Thursday with lighter winds and more sunshine on Friday but temperatures will remain cool.

Storm Aileen is the first storm to be named since this season's names were released last week, as part of the scheme by the Met Office and Met Eireann to raise awareness of extreme weather in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
