DUSU polls: Voting concludes, results tomorrow

From the 51 colleges whose students elect the Dusu, 44 per cent was recorded in the morning colleges, and 42 per cent in evening colleges, chief election officer S.B. Babbar said. The court's order came on a plea by the University seeking modification of its September 8 interim order by which it had allowed National Students Union of India (NSUI) presidential candidate Rocky Tuseed to contest the election but directed the varsity not to declare the results for the post of the President.

BJP Backed ABVP won the DUSU elections previous year, and they want to keep their dominance still.

The Delhi high court on Tuesday gave its nod to Delhi University to declare the results for the president's post in the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) polls once the counting of votes is over. The counting of votes started at 8:30 am. The RSS student organisation is eyeing to win all the four posts while NSUI is hopeful that it would bring back its lost glory in the varsity.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has nominated Rajat Choudhary, Parth Rana and Mahamedha for the posts of President, Vice President, General Secretary respectively.

UK August Inflation Data Comes in Perkier than Expected
The UK's inflation rate climbed to its highest level in more than five years in August as the price of petrol and clothing rose. Inflation's summer lull ended in August as price growth spiked to 2.9 per cent following a record rise in clothing costs.

Last year, the ABVP bagged three posts while NSUI made a comeback, winning the post of joint secretary. Along with the DUSU elections, the college union elections were also held simultaneously. At the end of the day results of the DUSU elections will be announced.

Over the past few years, the DUSU elections have seen a turnout of around 33%.

The students' outfit also won top two positions in SGTB Khalsa College, Zakir Hussain College (Morning), Bhagini Nivdita College (BNC) among others.
