2 militants killed Kupwara infiltration bid: Army

At least two terrorists have been neutralised after an infiltration bid that was foiled in Machil sector of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K)'s Kupwara district on Saturday.

The soldiers manning the fence at Goutum Post near LoC intercepted a group of militants.

"Two militants were killed so far weapons were recovered from the possession of slain militants", Defence spokesman in Srinagar said.

This bid was foiled after more than a month's time when last infiltration was repulsed with fatal casualties on militant side. This year, the Army has foiled a total of 22 infiltration bids along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, and 38 armed intruders have been eliminated in such operations.

The autumn months are crucial for infiltration and exit of militants before the mountain passes are blocked due to snowfall in winter.
