Chargers vs. Dolphins: Who has the edge?

Chargers vs. Dolphins: Who has the edge?

Dolphins' scheduled opener against Tampa Bay was postponed to November, so Fins haven't played game since August 31. It would be easy to mention here that Jakeem Grant can't drop any punts in his first game since his hands became more trusted.

Late in the fourth quarter of a 31-24 loss to the Dolphins last November 13, Williams defended a pass in the end zone on third and goal, preventing the go-ahead touchdown and forcing the Dolphins to kick a game-tying field goal. Miami is also 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games in Week 2 and 1-5 ATS in their last six games in September.

Miami hired Adam Gase over Lynn two years ago, and ended up going to the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade. The Chargers now have Jason Verrett back from injury and they've added talented players in the secondary through the draft. The good news is the postponement alllowed quarterback Jay Cutler to get more reps in as he learns the offense.

Miami seemed to be in great trouble when their starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill suffered a season-ending injury but now they have signed Jay Cutler for the job.

For the first time since 1960, the Chargers will host a home game in Los Angeles.

It's a bold statement from a defender who was a part of the 17th ranked defense last season. He had 1.5 sacks last week against Denver. Cutler will be tested to his best on Sunday. Chargers' Antonio Gates gets chance to set National Football League record for TD catches by tight end at home.

Is climate change causing more severe weather?
From a scientist's perspective, the lack of understanding of climate impacts on hurricanes is disappointing, if not irritating. Better understanding of hurricane-climate relation is needed, as ultimately that knowledge can help serve society.

"It definitely feels familiar to previous year", Williams said. The Dolphins made big additions - SLB Lawrence Timmons, DE William Hayes, DTs Davon Godchaux and Vincent Taylor - to stop the run.

The final San Diego version of this franchise lost eight games by seven points or fewer previous year, and the 2015 team lost nine games by eight points or fewer, blowing four fourth-quarter leads.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Chargers TE Hunter Henry.

There may be more #17 Philip Rivers jerseys in the crowd than usual Sunday, as every Season Ticket Member was issued one Nike, custom-sized, powder blue Rivers jersey per seat in their account prior to the Chargers' home opener. Not only didn't he have a catch in the loss at Denver, but he wasn't even targeted.

Something angered Timmons, precipitating his decision to leave the team, according to the source.

Because Miami's opener was moved to a later date this season, Week 2 will actually be the 2017 debut of Ajayi.
