Ranked Alabama rolls against Colorado State

Now it's on to the SEC.

The Crimson Tide stormed past Colorado State 41-23 Saturday, gaining 487 yards in a balanced offensive performance. The first-quarter stats were utterly one-sided, with Alabama outgaining Colorado State 216-11. "We were on the field entirely too long".

In addition to Hurts' offensive production, the Crimson Tide (3-0) scored 14 points off two Rams' (2-2) turnovers. The Rams ran for 144 and Stevens picked up 26 of them and a touchdown.

After the game, Saban said Hurts had an "outstanding game" both run and pass.

But in one moment Saturday, as Foster darted across the field, weaving between Colorado State defenders on a 58-yard catch-and-run touchdown a minute before halftime, all those feelings were expunged. "The stage, it might have taken a few guys to get going", center Jake Bennett said. "We were getting too lackadaisical".

The Tide came up empty on its next drive, while the Rams responded with an 11-play 85 yard drive that ended with a four-yard touchdown run, cutting the Alabama lead to seven with 2:18 on the clock. The Tide had gone 12 consecutive contests without scoring a touchdown on their opening possession until striking on their first drive last week.

Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley continues to climb the school's career record lists.

Alabama had to settle for a 46-yard Andy Pappanastos field goal on its third possession, and punter JK Scott missed from 52 yards out on the Crimson Tide's fourth drive.

Two big scoring plays helped fuel Alabama's offense, and just when CSU's offense had started to find a groove, a pair of interceptions by Nick Stevens set up the Tide to open up the lead.

Jalen Hurts made a gun symbol with hands, blowing off the barrels before tucking them back into their imaginary holsters.

In the second quarter, CSU found life. They make you earn everything, especially offensively. "That allowed them to keep the ball". Running back Bo Scarbrough finished the 14-play, 88-yard drive with a 9-yard touchdown run to make it 31-10.

"We have a lot of good playmakers on the perimeter, whoever it is", Hurts said. That prompted Saban to put the first team offense back in the game for the final drive.

Forristall, a sophomore, sustained the injury after taking a hit at the end of a 12-yard reception in the third quarter - his first of the season. That 33-game streak is the third-longest active streak in the FBS.

Moses became the fifth Alabama linebacker to miss time this season with an injury, joining outside linebackers Christian Miller (bicep) and Terrell Lewis (elbow), who are out for the season after undergoing surgeries last week.
