"This government is committed to tackling extremism in all its forms - as the Prime Minister said after the London Bridge attack earlier this year, enough is enough", Mrs Rudd wrote in a press release posted on the Home Office's website. He is to be transferred to a south London police station for questioning.

The network said that the home raided by anti-terror police belonged to British couple Penelope Jones, 71, and Ronald Jones, 88 who have fostered a number of child-refugees over the years and who have been honored for their work with the refugee community.

Images of the bomb posted on social media appear to show a bucket on fire that had been placed inside a plastic bag close to a rail vehicle door.

In a statement, Ms Rudd said: "Following the attack in Parsons Green last Friday the police have made good progress with what is an ongoing operation". Experts believe the improvised explosive device failed to detonate properly meaning no one was critically injured or killed. The communique added that "what is coming is more devastating and bitter", according to a translation by the SITE intelligence group.
