USA exhausting patience for diplomatic solution to North Korea crisis: McMaster, Haley

Trump, who will stay in his Manhattan penthouse at Trump Tower, will conclude his stay on Thursday with meetings with leaders from Turkey, Afghanistan and Ukraine before holding a lunch with the leaders of South Korea and Japan, largely to discuss the threats emanating from North Korea.

"We've been kicking the can down the road, and we're out of road", H.R. McMaster, Trump's national security adviser, told reporters on Friday.

Haley said recent sanctions have "strangled" North Korea's "economic situation", calling the impact "dramatic". McMaster says Trump, much like previous presidents, will push a message of reform, calling for more transparency and accountability at the United Nations.

North Korea, according to McMaster, is "one of the world's most urgent and unsafe security problems".

McMaster emphasized that it's the responsibility of all nations to enforce U.N. sanctions on North Korea and address the problem. He stressed there is now consensus among all key nations that denuclearization of North Korea is one of the world's top priorities.

As a presidential candidate he called North Atlantic Treaty Organisation obsolete and, as president, during a visit to the alliance headquarters in Brussels, he shocked US allies by failing to underscore his commitment to their mutual defense. When the UN Security Council refuses to act in Syria, or when UN peacekeepers abuse those they are supposed to protect, or when scandals like Oil-for-Food expose corruption and cronyism, or when bodies like the UN Human Rights Council go off the rails, the understandable response is outrage. "They've violated so many different elements and they've also violated the spirit of that deal".

"I think we ought to make clear, what is different about this approach, is we are out of time, we've been kicking the can down the road and we are out of road", McMaster said during a press briefing, where he appeared alongside U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

Latest estimates for global causes of death and disease
An Australian man born in 2016 can expect to live 80.5 years, an increase in life expectancy of 1.6 years over the past decade. ONE IN FIVE deaths worldwide is linked to poor diet - while seven million people died of tobacco-related illnesses in 2016.

"I personally think he slaps the right people, he hugs the right people, and he comes out with (the) United States being very strong, in the end", Haley, speaking at the White House, said of Trump's speech.

Those options are "not only effective but overwhelming", Trump added for his part, after reviewing a military base near Washington.

While Trump will meet with several foreign leaders during his trip to NY, a few will be missing from the gathering.

Trump has been a skeptic of worldwide organizations such as the United Nations and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

"About time for U.S.to stop spinning and begin complying, just like Iran", Zarif wrote. Terrorism efforts and how we counter that is a huge topic.

"I don't think that he'll stray too much outside of the boundaries of that", Collins said.

"I personally think he slaps the right people, he hugs the right people, and he comes out with [the] USA being very strong in the end", she said.
