Windies humble England in T20

Windies humble England in T20

A splendid bowling effort by West Indies bowled out England to win their one-off Twenty20 by 21 runs at Chester-le-Street on Saturday.

Gayle's 21-ball innings, featuring three fours and four sixes ended when, after guiding Plunkett to backward point, he was run out as he ambled for a single.

Almost 13,000 spectators at Riverside Ground will miss their local hero Stokes in action and also his battle with West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite that was one of the defining moment in the 2016 World T20 final at Eden Gardens.

After a highly contested Test series between England and West Indies that went in favour of the hosts we get ready to embrace the limited-overs format.

Brathwaite ignited the collapse when he had Hales clean bowled off a straight delivery, then Joe Root (17) caught in the next over off Ashley Nurse.

"Losing the game was losing three wickets in that period", said Morgan.

Gayle hit three fours and four sixes in his typically aggressive knock before West Indies stumbled and lost nine wickets for 104 runs.

Virginia Officials Issue Statements on Anthem Decision
Indianapolis-based Anthem backpedaled its planned exit from Virginia's individual health insurance marketplace, Forbes reports. Earlier this week, however, the company said it will continue to sell individual plans in all of CT .

But the Yorkshire duo of fast bowler Plunkett, who took three for 27 in his maximum four overs, and leg-spinner Rashid, whose return of three for 25 was his best at this level, helped England regain the initiative in a match that represented a repeat of last year's World Twenty20 final - won by West Indies.

The 37-year-old Gayle, in common with several senior West Indies players, had been involved in a bitter dispute with Caribbean cricket chiefs.

Conditions at the Riverside, the home of northeast county Durham, were always likely to prove challenging for a team used to the rather warmer climate back home in the West Indies.

Much of their recent competition has come against former fellow Associate nations and the fixture against West Indies was an opportunity to put their skills against a full ICC member side.

The Trinidadian, however, was out soon afterwards when he drove Plunkett to Root at mid-off.

Windies: Windies' batting line-up picks itself with Lewis, Gayle, Samuels and Pollard all set to be included as well as Brathwaite in the middle order.

Three spectators suffered injuries, and a further 180 had to be moved to another part of the ground, after a small part of a stand caved in during the T20 cricket match between England and the West Indies.
