Jurgen Klopp hopes Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren are fit to return

Jurgen Klopp was critical of Liverpool's lack of decisiveness in front of goal at the King Power on Tuesday night and will expect better of his side this weekend.

Dejan Lovren is struggling with a back injury while Emre Can and Joel Matip are both doubtful for the clash.

Liverpool is a team full of full backs, though, so one of them will need to move into a central position for the upcoming match. Since their 4-0 win over Arsenal before the worldwide break, Liverpool have scored just three goals in four games across all competitions. Contrast that against the title winning side of Chelsea in 2016/17 and they conceded just 33 over the course of their entire league campaign, 0.9 goals per game.

Liverpool have attempted a league-high 40 shots on target in their five games so far this season in the Premier League, more than double the tally opponents Leicester City have posted (14). "It was about what we planned for this season", Klopp said. "But I'm not in doubt about this". If neither senior player makes the trip, Klopp might be forced to throw Joe Gomez and Ragnar Klavan into action.

"Obviously we have some problems, but as long as we are staying in games and showing what we are good at the situation is not quite as serious as is being suggested".

"If you ask me what would you prefer - do you want your team ideal in defending set pieces but don't know how to play football or would you prefer the other way round?"

"We come too close together in the situation where the first ball is going after a throw-in and it means that for the second ball we don't have a good formation".

"You should never take things like this for granted but I'm not surprised by how quickly he has adapted", Klopp said.

"He is important to us and I could have taken him to Leicester in midweek but I can only select 11 players and Daniel would not have started".

Liverpool wilted in the second half on Tuesday to hand Leicester encouragement for Saturday's game, but Foxes winger Marc Albrighton is wary of treating League Cup success as an indicator of possible joy in the Premier League. They have little bits from the last game, so we have to see.
