Suspect dies in Huntington Beach officer-involved shooting captured on video

A man was wounded in an officer-involved shooting outside a 7-Eleven in Huntington Beach on Friday morning, police said.

Huntington Beach police say the unnamed man was transferred to a local hospital and has died from his injuries.

According to the L.A. Times, the incident marks the seventh officer-involved shooting in Huntington Beach this year, which exceeds the total for any year in this decade for the HBPD.

Bennett says the investigation is just beginning. His identity has not been released.

It shows the man getting up from the ground, and an officer backing away. Both witnesses - neither of whom wanted to be identified - said the officer approached the man, who then swung a punch toward the officer.

One clip shows an officer struggling to subdue a man in a parking lot.

After the gunfire ends, the man slumps against the front entrance of the 7-Eleven. Three seconds pass before a final shot is fired. Sevens shots are then heard in the video.

The officer can be heard saying "the suspect is down".

Nearby Marina High School was placed on lockdown due to the incident. The school tweeted that there were many police patrol cars on scene and that students were safe. "It's not like the movies", said student Carmella Marshall.
