President Trump Visits Las Vegas Following Mass Shooting

President Donald Trump and the first lady Melania Trump arrived in Las Vegas Wednesday to talk to survivors at University Medical Center.

Gunderson, of California, said he was running toward Mandalay Bay when a bullet pierced his leg.

In the hospital Trump said that there were some who were badly maimed but they stood their ground amidst the firing to help others.

Gunderson wrote in a later post he shared the video to spread "an uplifting message during this horrific time in our country".

"Don't get up", Melania Trump told him.

Of the visit from the Trumps, Gunderson told Starnes it "was one of the most humbling experiences of my life - the fact that the president would take time to come here and just shake my hand and to let him know if I needed anything".

The alleged plot would have targeted New York City in 2016 during the Islamic held month of Ramadan. He allegedly said he'd want to execute the attack as soon as May 30, 2016 - Memorial Day.

Whether he was a fan of Trump's or not before Wednesday, Gunderson certainly is now.

Thomas Gunderson was shot in the leg, but refused to lie down for his president. Gunderson thanked the president for visiting the area.

"President Trump comes in and says "this guy looks tough to me" before shaking his hand".

In response to the mass shooting, House Republicans are planning on leading a bill to ban the sale of bump stocks, a device used by the Las Vegas shooter to convert semi-automatic weapons into full-auto fire weapons. He captioned the video with the caption, "We love you Las Vegas" with the song God Bless the United States of America by Lee Greenwood playing in the background.

Gunderson was not the only Las Vegas shooting survivor who found the president's trip motivational. The video showed Trump and the first lady meeting patients and their families.
