Most recently, Paddock looked into the most recent Lollapalooza, going as far as to book a room in a Chicago hotel called The Blackstone, according to The Chicago Tribune. He booked a second room August 3. The hotel overlooks the main stage and entrance, but Paddock allegedly never showed up.

"We are aware of the media reports and have been in communication with our federal partners", the Chicago Police Department told USA Today. "The city conducts extensive public safety planning and training around major events, in close coordination with our law enforcement partners, to ensure public safety".

A gunman, Stephen Paddock, opened fire on an outdoor music concert on Sunday killing dozens and injuring hundreds.

The Chicago hotel's proximity to the outdoor concert stadium suggested a similar scenario to the Las Vegas mass shooting, which killed 58 and injured nearly 500.

Stephen Paddock, 64, built a sniper's nest in a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas strip Sunday night and rained bullets on more than 22,000 people at an outdoor country music concert.

Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said the scale of the preparations - including weapons, ammunition and electronics he stockpiled - raise questions about Paddock potentially having had an accomplice, but none has been identified.

Weinreich said Paddock's girlfriend Marilou Danley once worked at the casino and initially got on Paddock's good side by leading him to a machine where someone had lost tens of thousands of dollars.

Wynn said Paddock didn't run up debts or have a gambling problem, and he had "the most vanilla profile one could possibly imagine".

Trump to boost tax cut plan in Harrisburg Wednesday
Given the timing, Trump's comment sparked fears of impending USA military action. We will do what we must do to prevent that from happening.

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, speaking at a cybersecurity forum in Boston, said investigators are busy "reconstructing the life, the behaviour, the pattern of activity of this individual and anyone and everyone who may have crossed his path in the days and the weeks leading up to this horrific event".

Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Aaron Rouse said that more than 100 agents are looking to help Las Vegas authorities figure out if Paddock had help in the shooting, according to The Los Angeles Times.

In the days after the attack, it remained unclear why Paddock carried out his attack. Representatives said Paddock won about $300.

The Boston Red Sox, who have a home playoff game Thursday against the Houston Astros, also released a statement about the new reports, according to CBS Local. The room overlooked the Life is lovely festival, which ran from September 22 to 24.

Paddock lived a low-key, private life, including spending hours playing highstakes video poker in Las Vegas casinos.

"He only played one time", one of the representatives said.

"We have butlers and waiters and masseuses and the people in the beauty shop that know this woman and this man completely", Wynn said.
