U-17 WC INDIA 2017: Colombia 2-1 India

It was in the 82nd minute that India finally equalised through Jeakson Thounaojam who gave the hosts their first ever goal in a Federation Internationale de Football Association tournament.

It was a very different India that turned up after the 0 -3 loss to US three nights ago.

India started the match with last-game hero Komal Thatal surprisingly on the bench, but they were still at their offensive best whenever an opportunity came calling. Soon with a lively crowd behind them, the boys in blue looked menacing in the attack as the number seven Ninthoinganba made consistent runs down the flank.

The South Americans initially tried to cause problems for the Indian defence by taking long throws to penetrate, but failing to get past the defenders.

Colombian players used their physicality time and again to win tackles and break-up play.

The second half saw all three goals - two from Penaloza and the historic India strike from Jeakson's foot.

Centre-back Anwar Ali for India showed his determination, disallowing the opponents to take advantage.

It is also the recognition that Russian Federation is an important mediator in Saudi Arabia's relations, for example with Iran. Saudi Arabia's neighbours, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, have also been supplied THAAD systems.

The first half was goal-less.

Penaloza eventually put Colombia ahead in the 51st minute.

The physical advantage that Colombia enjoys against the hosts will be a major factor on Monday.

When pointed that Colombia struggled in the second half against Ghana, Restrepo said: "It does take time to adapt, every match is different".

India scored when Jeakson, the tallest player in the side, headed in a Sanjeev Stalin corner, sending the whole stadium into a state of delirium.

Jeakson Singh Thounaojam got his name into history books as the first footballer from India to score a goal in a FIFA World Cup.

In the final minutes of the match, India tried to combine and utilise the precious moments to find an equaliser but failed to do so giving away too many balls to the strong Colombia attack.
