The, 32-year-old host hadn't previously discussed her father's diagnosis of glioblastoma and had to hold the hand of her new co-host, Sunny Hostin, while discussing her new life's endeavor.

So there was applause but few gasps as Meghan McCain, the conservative commenter and author who just left a co-host gig on Fox News's "Outnumbered", cheerily took the stage - and her place at the table.

Rumors had been circulating that McCain would join the morning talker, after conservative voice Jedidiah Bila abruptly exited the show last month. "We know she'll be a great addition to 'The View'". The View's official Twitter account welcomed McCain, with a tweet reading, "WELCOME, MEGHAN! No matter who you are", she said. I was in the hospital with him and I said, what do you think of this?

Though Senator McCain may be undergoing treatment, he did not miss out on the opportunity to publicly applaud his daughter. Despite the diagnosis he encouraged Meghan to take this job on 'The View.' Meghan explains how hard cancer is on a family and hopes to share in real-time the experience and bring awareness to brain cancer.
