Oregon State's Gary Andersen Resigns, Unnecessarily Gives Up Millions Of Dollars

It was reported that Oregon State and head coach Gary Andersen agreed to part ways.

Oregon State produced a Heisman Trophy victor, Terry Baker, in 1962 and went to the Rose Bowl in the 1964 season. "Coaching is not about the mighty dollar", Andersen said.

Oregon State said Andersen, 53, and the school "agreed to release each other from all future contract obligations and payments".

Anderson's statement on why he and the school chose to part ways notes that it is the "correct decision" and that success only comes when "all parties involved are moving in the same direction". "His decision is made for the right reasons and values, and it speaks volumes about the kind of honorable person that Gary Andersen". He had just signed a contract extension at Oregon State in January that was to keep him with the program through 2021.

Cory Hall, the former Fresno State football star and Clovis North High coach, was named interim head coach at Oregon State on Monday.

Kourtney Kardashian Is Reportedly Cool With Scott Disick's 19-Year-Old Girlfriend
Scott Disick , 34, and Sofia Richie , 19, looked happy as they held hands while out on a lunch date in Beverly Hills on Friday. In fact, Kourtney Kardashian packed on the PDA with Younes Bendjima during a soccer game in France several days ago.

The Beavers never really got it going under Andersen. Overall, Andersen has a 7-23 record with the team.

With Andersen's departure and Bielema's struggles, college football Twitter noticed an important lesson: Don't leave Wisconsin. The 4-8 mark in 2016 came with a 3-6 improvement in conference play, but the team stumbled out of the gates this season including a 1-5 start with the only win coming by three points against FCS Portland State.

John Canzano of The Oregonian filled in further details in a column after the news was announced, writing that it appears that Andersen didn't believe he could win like he wanted to at Oregon State.

Andersen notoriously bolted the Wisconsin gig before the Badgers' bowl game in December 2014 to take the Oregon State job.

Before his time at USU, Andersen, a native of Salt Lake City, was a defensive assistant at Utah from 1997-2002 and 2004-2008 with one year (2003) as head coach at Southern Utah in between. His time at Wisconsin was also successful as he posted a 19-7 record over two seasons.
