Pilots killed after Russian jet rolls of runway in Syria's Hmeymim

A Russian Su-24 fighter jet crashed during takeoff in the Hmeimim Air Base in Syria Tuesday, killing all its crew, local media reported, citing a Russian Defense Ministry statement.

A Russian Air Force Su-24M2, deployed to Syria, has crashed earlier today near Hmeymim air base, near Latakia.

"The Su-24 plane rolled off the runway and broke up while accelerating for takeoff".

Earlier in the day, Vice President Mike Pence left Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis after seeing players kneel during the anthem. Trump's position unified more National Football League players to protest racial injustice before or during the anthem.

The two personnel on board failed to eject, and the ministry says a technical malfunction was the cause.

"According to a report from the scene of the accident, the reason could be a technical failure", he added. Initial reports said that the chopper was shot down, but the Defence Ministry subsequently denied those reports.

Moscow has given President Bashar al-Assad's government crucial military and diplomatic support throughout the more than six-year war in Syria, which began with a crackdown on pro-democracy protesters.
