Donald Trump to make 'scaled-down visit to United Kingdom next year'

He was not aware of any other discussions on a separate working visit, Reuters reports.

While British and U.S. sources told the Evening Standard that the full state visit would still go ahead at some point, the stripped down version, which was expected to be far less controversial than a royal welcome, would take place in early 2018.

What we know is that Trump's visit won't have the usual pomp and circumstance associated with state visits, and won't be a guest of the Queen.

The trip had been expected this summer, but the snap election as well as growing controversy over Trump's foreign policy have led to a rethink.

He may cut the ribbon on the brand new United States embassy - close to completion at Nine Elms, near Battersea Power Station.

A previous fireworks and firecracker ban was inspired after three children demanded their petition heard by the Supreme Court . The police will also issue advertisements announcing the cancellation of licenses, said a senior police officer.

At the time, Downing Street maintained there had been "no change" to plans for a state visit. For that reason people have been upset that he might come to the United Kingdom for a state visit, causing it to be "put on hold" out of fear there would be mass protests.

They said a full state visit will follow later at an unspecified date.

Her Majesty usually lists all formal visits for the coming year, but pointedly did not include the US President's trip.

US President Donald Trump has accepted an invitation for a state visit to Britain, a spokesman for British Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday. He was later reported to be concerned about protests.

But a more low-key trip might spark less opposition - and London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who has publicly warred with the President, has apparently signalled he would accept such a visit.
