Matt Damon makes the most unusual appearance on 'Kimmel'

After all the excitement of the Thor: Ragnarok world premiere, star Chris Hemsworth appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to introduce a new clip from the film featuring director Taika Waititi as Korg. With just three weeks away from debuting worldwide, promotional activities for the God of Thunder's third standalone movie have already been kicked into high gear. Also among the cast is Sam Neill, reuniting with Taika Waititi, who directed him in his previous film Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and his Jurassic Park co-star Jeff Goldblum.

"Thor: Ragnaorok" releases on November 3. Both the film's backdrop and tone are lighter, which intrigues fans who saw the first two, more grim outings of the Asgardian hero.

Thor responds, "That's a nice way of putting it". When the camera switched to the show's green room to focus on Ruffalo and Waititi, the Good Will Hunting actor sneakily got himself in the frame to the delight and surprise of fans. You can watch the amusing clip above.

The actor went live on the social media site earlier in the evening to give fans a closer look at the red carpet. "And they don't want to make money".

"Why are you friends with him?"

This isn't the first time Damon has tried to sneak on Kimmel's show.

The hilarious thing about all this - other than Mark Ruffalo being unable to deal with Instagram - is that Disney and Marvel are notoriously stringent about piracy at premieres.

Chris Hemsworth plays the titular character in Thor: Ragnarok, and opted for a stylish navy blue suit for the event, which he matched with a white shirt.
