Parents leave three-year-old boy in corn maze, don't realise until next day

A Utah mother left behind her 3-year-old son in a corn maze on Monday, prompting local authorities to ask some questions before allowing the child to return to his mother, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

West Jordan Police said a corn maze employee found the child at about 8 p.m. Monday night and turned over the child to an officer. "They waited there for a while to see if anybody showed up for the child", said Sgt. Joe Monson with West Jordan Police.

After asking guests about the found child, the boy was taken to the Utah Division of Child and Family Services, according to KUTV. When the group returned home, they watched a movie and she dozed off, unaware that she had left her child.

The parents woke up and realized the child was gone after they got home from the corn maze.

Investigators went to the house and said several families live there together with multiple children.

"Noticing that something didn't look right, taking action, notifying our officer so that the child didn't spend the night - with the temperatures we're having - out in the middle of the corn maze with nobody aware of it", Monson said. Monson says she later arrived at the police station with about 10 children.
