The Allegheny County medical examiner's office called the death a homicide Monday and said the cause of death was "sharp/blunt trauma of the head". "I encourage anyone with information that could be helpful to call police headquarters and speak to a violent crime unit detective".

Sonya Toler, a Pittsburgh Police spokesperson, said: "At 8:56 a.m. Sunday, October 8, Paramedics and Zone 4 Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3500 block of Cable Place in Oakland for a report that a female was found unresponsive".

'It appears that the death was from blunt force trauma'.

Darby was arrested September 26 and charged with felony criminal trespass for allegedly breaking into Sheykhet's apartment.

Police are now looking for her boyfriend Matthew Darby, 21, of Greensburg.

The victim's family and friends say she will be remembered as a special, handsome woman.

The University of Pittsburgh said they believe the incident to be isolated.

WPIX spoke to two of Sheykhet's neighbors, both of whom had lived in the neighborhood for more than 50 years, and neither could remember anything like her murder happening near them.

"I could go on and on about how much of a wonderful person she is", former classmate Mark Schlaegle told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Those who knew the young woman where stunned. Sheykhet was bruised and badly beaten, authorities said.
