Significantly, the 2018 Range Rover will also be offered with a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) option, giving well-to-do company-car customers a tax-friendly engine option previously missing from the range. There's also 4G Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

The new Range Rover is available with an array of new or updated driver assistance technologies, too, with systems like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), rear-view camera, lane departure warning and rear parking sensors fitted as standard. "After almost 50 years the fourth generation Range Rover is the finest so far, ensuring the original luxury SUV remains the choice for discerning customers the world over".

The most obvious addition to this facelifted Range Rover's interior is the adoption of the dual-screen infotainment set-up first seen in the Range Rover Velar. You can also order seats with 25 massage programmes.

Step inside and a new 12-inch display greets the driver, which provides instrumentation and also displays various vehicle information.

The current Range Rover has been on sale since 2013, so this mid-life update is created to keep it looking fresh in the face of more modern rivals including the Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7. Comprising two 10-inch touchscreens, this configurations allots control of the Range Rover's various off-roading and climate systems to the lower screen, while the top screen takes care of infotainment and navigation duties - although there's some crossover between the two screens.

On sale in Australia from March next year, the luxury SUV range will be strengthened by the P400e PHEV that combines a 221kW/400Nm 2.0-litre "Ingenium" turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an 85kW electric motor for total system outputs of 297kW/640Nm. The photo gives it away, but it's a plug-in hybrid EV.

North Korean hackers stole US-South Korean war plans, lawmaker says
The data, said to be 235 gigabytes of military documents, was stolen from the Defense Integrated Data Center in September 2016. Mr Kim responded with a rare statement, vowing to "tame the mentally deranged United States dotard with fire".

In terms of green auto capabilities, the P400e uses as little as 2.8L/100km, while claiming an all-electric range of up to 51 kilometres from its 13.1kWh lithium-ion battery pack. These options are largely unchanged, but the range-topping SVAutobiography Dynamic model - which is powered by a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine - gets a small power hike to 557bhp.

Customers can use the InControl smartphone app to monitor charging status, along with receiving alerts if there has been an error or if the cable has been disconnected from the vehicle.

The visual differences to the facelifted Range Rover are subtle enough, but they're also numerous.

Five exterior colour options are available for the SVAutobiography, including Firenze Red (pictured) - exclusive to the flagship variant. In fact from afar, one can easily mistake the it for the outgoing model. There are also accent packages available to change the color of various exterior trim.

The powerful Range Rover SVAutobiography represents the pinnacle of the model range when ordered in long-wheelbase guise and is over twice the price of the cheapest Range Rover.
