Two commandos, two militants killed in J&K gunfight

Two militants were reportedly killed in the encounter.

As the security forces went closer to the house where the militants were hiding, the militants opened fire which was equally retaliated by the security forces triggering an encounter in which two of them neutralized.

The gun battle started in the wee hours of Wednesday in Rakh-e-Hajin village of the area, where Special Operation Group of J&K police and Army were conducting a cordon and search operation.

In an intense operation on Wednesday morning in Hajin, Bandipur, two terrorists were killed. The Garud personnel were operating with the Army for operational experience and training.

Jammu and Kashmir Police, 13 personnel of Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and nine paramilitary force personnel are deployed in the operation which is now underway.

The police sources said, "Three soldiers sustained injuries, two of whom were critical and later succumbed".

The Garud commandos are trained along the lines of Navy's MARCOS and Army's para commandos.

The security forces are going after militants as part of operation "hunt down" and on the basis of a "hit list" of militants.
