Former World Best Footballer, George Weah Wins Liberia Presidential Election

The final results are due to be declared today by Liberia's National Elections Commission (NEC).

The former footballer is presently a member of the Liberian senate, having been elected to represent the Montserrado County which includes the country's capital, Monrovia, on the platform of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in December 2014.

In the presidential post, the former footballer will replace Nobel Laureate for Peace in 2011, Ellen Johnson Surley, who has won two six-year terms. The victory is believed to have boosted his political image across the West African country ahead of the 2017 presidential poll which held on Tuesday, October 10. Fomunyoh, who also observed Liberia's 2005 elections, said Sirleaf helped create an environment for an open race with such a high number of candidates. - AP.

According to Gilford, customers can also access their library on the new service (Disney Movies Anywhere will be phased out). Disney didn't share exactly why the company pulled support for Microsoft Movies & TV.

Sirleaf has been the President of Liberia since 2006 following 14 years of a deadly civil war during the reign of the now incarcerated former President Charles Taylor, who was ousted by rebels in 2003. He played for Monaco, PSG, Olympic (Marseille), Chelsea, Manchester City and Milan.

As Africa's first female president prepares to step aside, voters called for peaceful and fair elections on Tuesday.

The AU and ECOWAS made several recommendations about the electoral process including the need for a review of the electoral register which accounted for long winding queues on voting day, as well as adequate training for election staff.
