Southwest Airlines Announces Intention To Serve Hawaii

Southwest Airlines Announces Intention To Serve Hawaii

The airline, which has made no secret of its plans to fly to the vacation hotspot, made it official with events in Honolulu and Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Travelers have wanted Southwest to offer flights to Hawaii for years, and Kelly said it's one of the top questions from employees. "We're ready and excited to address a request we've heard for years".

Customer-specific schedules or market information isn't yet available, but CEO Gary Kelly wrote in a blog on the Southwest Airlines website they want to "build into a multi-market offering among [their] west coast cities and the Hawaiian Islands". Another big key in the Hawaii announcement is the launch of Southwest's Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which offer expanded range compared to other models.

Southwest Airlines, the USA carrier known for its lack of seating assignments, short routes and no-frills service late Wednesday announced it plans to start selling tickets for service to Hawaii next year, answering a question that investors and its loyal customers have asked the carrier. It's not yet known which airports will offer direct nonstop service to Hawaii.

That's right-the day is finally here that we can say we're going to add some Aloha to our world-famous Hospitality, as Southwest Airlines will soon serve the Hawaiian Islands!

'Fully-fit' Wilshere facing up to permanent Arsenal exit
The article claims that Wilshere, whose Arsenal deal expires next summer, has been fully fit all season, but Arsene Wenger has been unwilling to use him in the Premier League.

"We anticipate fares will drop", he said. As for when service will begin, that's still up in the air as the company secures FAA approval to operate between the mainland and Hawaii.

A new reservation system that allows for more complicated itineraries and overnight trips is also enabling Southwest to add Hawaii flights.

Southwest says its capacity plans for 2018 remain unchanged with the Hawaii announcement. Southwest received nine MAX 8s on October 1 and will have 14 by the end of this year.
