A British woman who was a key recruiting figure for Isis and who became a notorious hate figure in her home country has reportedly been killed by a missile strike by American forces on the Iraq/Syria border.

JIHADIST Sally Jones, a British housewife who fled to Syria, has been killed by a United States drone strike as he tried to escape Raqqa.

Former punk musician Jones was born in Greenwich, south-east London and lived in Kent.

Quoting a British intelligence source who had been briefed by USA counterparts, The Sun reported that Jones and her son had been killed in June close to Syria's border with Iraq, as she was attempting to flee the IS stronghold of Raqqa.

U.S. intelligence chiefs say they can not be 100 per cent certain that the strike killed Jones as there was no attempt to recover any of her DNA.

But news of the success had been kept quiet on both sides of the Atlantic amid fears her 12-year-old son Jojo may also have been killed.
