Aston Martin's New Luxury Convertible Has a Sporty Side

Aston's new DB11 convertible - arrives to plug the gap for refined GT motoring in a DB, and it comes with only the option of the 4.0 litre AMG V8 - so no V12 version, at least not for now.

The Volante has the coupe's 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, which produces 503bhp and propels the auto to 62mph from a standstill in 4.1 seconds.

Just as with the DB11 coupe, the new Volante moves the game on over the DB9 in lots of other ways, too.

The overall design and styling of the convertible mimics the coupe, except for the fabric roof of course. It generates 503 horsepower and 513 lb-ft. of torque.

An unlikely feature has been added to the DB11 in the form of rear seat ISOFIX attachment points to fit a auto seat in the rear, something i'm sure won't be used too heavily.

Trump appears to admit he can't do much about 'fake news'
Trump tweeted on Wednesday in what many considered an open attack on the First Amendment. The federal government is not allowed to interfere with what the media reports.

With a sticker price of $216,000, United States buyers should expect to see the Volante in showrooms in early to mid 2018. Its lines are stronger yet more elegant because they're not being visually disrupted by a roof, while very smart touches of craftsmanship such as the wooden veneer that adorns the seat backs and which is plain for all to see each time the fabric roof is down add a subtle touch of class.

The updated roof takes 14 seconds to lower and 16 seconds to close. In addition, the new design results in a 20-percent gain in trunk space compared to the outgoing DB9 Volante.

"The challenge of creating a convertible vehicle is retaining structural and dynamic integrity", said Max Szwaj, Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer. The eight layered roof protects you from the most extreme weather (it was tested in Death Valley and the Arctic Circle) and wind noise.

The Aston Martin DB11 Volante is priced from £159,900 in the United Kingdom, with first deliveries scheduled to begin during the first quarter of 2018.

"With the DB11 Volante we have maximised the advantages of the DB11's all-new bonded structure to underpin our new Volante with a structure that's 26kg lighter and 5 per cent stiffer than its predecessor". Not that the British automaker has been keeping it a secret - Aston Martin showed off a prototype of the DB11 Volante over a year ago, with a launch date penned for spring 2018.
