And he underlined his status as the man to beat in Shanghai as he battered the Italian Fognini 6-3, 6-1.

Rafael Nadal fought past Grigor Dimitrov in a classy quarter-final at the Shanghai Masters on Friday. Nadal also improved his win streak to 15 having won the China Open last week. Rafael Nadal won his 14th consecutive match to reach the Shanghai Masters quarterfinals, beating Fabio Fognini of Italy 6-3, 6-1 on Thursday night.

Grigor gave his best to stay in touch, he made a nice comeback in the second set tie break to send the match into a decider but one loose service game in set number 3 cost him the match, with 3 huge errors in game 6 when he fell 4-2 behind. "Of course, being able to win the U.S. Open, Beijing, and being in the semifinals here".
