Samsung's new robot vacuums banish Darth Vader to cleaning duty

Debuting in theaters on December 15, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is directed by Rian Johnson and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio del Toro.

But the South Korean tech firm has decided that its line up of flagship phones, QLED TVs, and smart fridges needs a vacuum cleaning robot slathered in the iconic Darth Vader and Stormtrooper helmet designs.

There are two models to choose from, one that looks like Darth Vader's mask and another that resembles a Stormtrooper. The Darth Vader unit comes equipped with Wi-Fi and a remote control, hence the higher price. The limited edition bots will go up for pre-sale in the U.S. from today.

If you've lamented the lack of Star Wars-themed home cleaning appliances, then Samsung has just the robot vacuums for you.

Mini-figures, phone cases, fancy dress; these are the things you'd normally expect find toting Star Wars inspired designs, not a Samsung robot vacuum. Users can control the device from their smartphones, as well as issue voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. They are available for pre-order from Samsung's website today and will be released on November 5th.
