That's clear from the date the studio chose to release the first trailer for the movie - Friday the 13th - as well as its tone and lack of classic superhero trappings.

Director Josh Boone announced on Instagram that the first teaser trailer for New Mutants will drop at 12:01AM PST on October 13.

Based on the popular comic book that first appeared in 1982, "The New Mutants" tracks a group of younger age mutants who are just discovering their awesome abilities. The director made the announcement on Instagram and his caption promises that we're in for something very different from what the X-Men movies usually provide us with.

Filming on New Mutants wrapped earlier this fall, so it was only a matter of time until the film's first trailer dropped.

Trump announces Kirstjen Nielsen as pick to lead Homeland Security
Trump cited Nielsen's reputation from her time at DHS as an important factor in his decision. "That sets her apart", Trump said. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday Kirstjen Nielsen as his pick for Department of Homeland Security Secretary.

Of course, fans know several heroes who will appear in New Mutants.

"Whilst it's definitely a departure from the X-Men movies, the fans won't be disappointed". As for its villain, New Mutants is said to use the Demon Bear as its antagonist, and the character has been associated with wintery excursions before.

Similar to how Logan scaled back all of the grand, apocalyptic story elements scattered across Fox's core X-Men franchise, Josh Boone's spinoff sets itself apart as an intimate, relatively self-contained pic about five gifted teenagers who aren't trying to save the world so much as they're trying to save themselves. That is, before the Demon Bear mauled its victims and all.

Josh Boone is a massive comic book fan, and he grew up loving Claremont and Sienkiewicz's New Mutants run.
