Man Finds Winning Lottery Ticket In Pocket Two Days Before Deadline

A 68-year-old from New Jersey has won $24 million (£18 million) in the lottery after finding the missing ticket in an old shirt.

The ticket was sold by Vingo Liquor on Route 70 in Whiting, which will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket and earn the temporary status of "lucky location".

Smith heard that message and went to check the tickets in the pocket of the shirt he had hanging in the closet. Only time will tell.

The resigned security protect told lottery authorities he's been purchasing lottery tickets in NY and New Jersey since the 1960s yet doesn't hurry to see whether he's won.

"I ended up with a stack; a pile of tickets, including the one they were talking about on the news", he said.

The drawing for that ticket was on May 25, 2016, and the winning numbers were 05-12-13-22-25-35.

Markets continue to rally; Sensex, Nifty firm above key marks
The 50-share NSE Nifty rose 71.10 points or 0.70 percent to 10,167.50, after hitting a fresh record high of 10,191.90 intraday. The BSE market breadth was bullish with 1,407 advances and 1,120 declines.

New York Lottery notes on its official website that Mr Smith has claimed the Ksh 2.48 billion prize and will receive "laddered payments" for the next 26 years. While the New York Gaming Commission knew where the winning ticket had been bought, they were unable to find out who was the victor.

After completing a review, the NY lottery released Smith's name on Wednesday. I was in serious doubt.

"We urge New York Lottery players: Check your pockets".

Smith found his winning ticket on May 23, 2017. He'd have been ineligible to collect after May 25, 2017.

Lottery winners have a year to claim their prize after the numbers are announced.

He said after things settle down, he plans to have an "all-family discussion" about what to do with the windfall.
