CJ McCollum suspended for season opener

CJ McCollum suspended for season opener

Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum has been suspended for one game for leaving the bench area during an altercation, according to the NBA's executive vice president of basketball operations. He left the Blazers bench area in the fourth quarter when Caleb Swanigan and Phoenix's Alex Len had an altercation. I want to apologize to my teammates and the organization for putting our team in this situation. It won't happen again. There may be a fair argument about whether the punishment was too harsh, but there is a strict rule in place to prevent players on the bench from getting involved in adjustment on the court.

The Blazers will be without McCollum for their season opener next Thursday, which will coincidentally be in Phoenix against the Suns.

Carolina Panthers Fan Who Attacked Eagles Fan Arrested; History of Violent Allegations
The NFL told Ian Rapoport it's working with the Carolina Panthers security team - saying, "We take all of these very seriously". Several other fans jumped in and tried to break up the fight, but the attacker and the woman quickly left the stadium.

Expect a little more Evan Turner and maybe Pat Connaughton for Portland with McCollum out.

McCollum averaged a career-high 23 points plus 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game last season, when he made a league-best 91.2 percent of his free throws.
