Ezekiel Elliott Requests Full-Panel Rehearing

The NFL recently scored a temporary victory in the Ezekiel Elliott suspension court case, but the running back's lawyers still have a card left to play.

The NFL announced Thusday that Elliott's suspension was effective immediately, though the appeals process still has to run its course and the Cowboys are not playing this weekend.

The NFLPA has filed a petition for the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel to rehear Elliott's case.

The appeals court in New Orleans voted 2-1 in favor of the National Football League, which requested an emergency hearing after a district court in Texas blocked the suspension last month. In fact, sources tell Dash, Mazzant will not lift the injunction until the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals makes a ruling on the next hearing.

For the first time since 1986, the United States men's national team will not be playing in Russian Federation . Costa Rica routed the visiting United States 4-0, the Americans' first four-goal loss in qualifying since 1980.

Elliott's suspension formally restarted Thursday after the 5th Circuit's ruling and is now set to end on Friday, Nov. 24.

Should the court decide to hear the en banc hearing - and the judges ruled 2-1 against Elliott, so there is some dissension - it could be months before anything actually happens and Elliott could theoretically play out the season. If Elliott's legal team can't put the suspension on hold again, he would miss the 49ers game, plus games against the Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers.

So, as of right now, Elliott's suspension will not be in place.

Elliott rushed for 393 yards on 105 carries in five games while his case was in the court system.
