FC personnel martyred in Kurram Agency landmine blasts

An officer of Pakistan Army and three personnel of Frontier Corps embraced martyrdom as three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) exploded in the border village of Kharlachi in Kurram Agency.

Captain Hasnain, who was martyred in a blast in Kurram Agency along with three other soldiers Sunday morning, has been laid to rest in his native town with full military honours.

The troops were part of a search operation for the foreigners rescued earlier this week, the statement said. The family was being held by the Taliban-allied Haqqani Network in the tribal area until they were rescued during a Pakistani military operation on Wednesday.

The nature of the blasts is unknown, but the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Pakistani forces, acting on intelligence supplied by the USA, freed the couple along with their three children - all born in captivity.

The dead bodies of martyred security personnel and injured have been sent to Parachinnar Hospital, political authorities stated.

Security was put on high alert following the incident.
