LaMarcus Aldridge signs 3-year extension with Spurs, report says

After an National Basketball Association off-season with numerous free agents moves and blockbuster trades, it's getting hard to remember which superstar plays for what team going into the 2018 season.

The 32-year-old will earn $21.4 million this season as well as a player-option for $22.3 million for next season left on his contract.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports the extension is a three-year deal worth $72.3 million.

It also comes just months after the Spurs were reportedly looking to unload Aldridge's contract in a trade.

He spoke in Owerri, the Imo State capital, while signing a memorandum of understanding between his foundation, The Jacobs G. Zuma Foundation , and The Rochas Foundation College System. "It's not the best PR exercise, if you ask me".

The All-Star forward has had a bumpy two seasons with the Spurs since he signed in 2015 with the Texas-based team as a free agent from Portland.

The contract extension comes after Aldridge arrived at training camp this summer in good shape and with a stronger relationship with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich. He has averaged 19.1 points and 8.3 rebounds in his 11-year National Basketball Association career.

Aldridge is coming off a season in which he averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. Aldridge always seemed like a weird fit in San Antonio and he was heavily criticized for his play down the stretch last season, so this is pretty surprising.
