'Trailer Park Boys' Star John Dunsworth Dead at 71

The news was confirmed on Dunsworth's official Twitter account with a message that was posted Monday night.

John was best known as the trailer park supervisor on the Trailer Park Boys, The Nemesis of Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, Robb Wells and Mike Smith.

"John left this world peacefully after a short and unexpected illness", her statement said.

The family has asked for privacy at this time.

He was famous for playing the character of Jim Lahey on the hit TV show 'Trailer Park Boys'.

He was also involved in community theatre for decades.

The actress said she was just 16 and starting out on her career when she was attacked by the unnamed man. She said: "One girl before me had already been fired for not losing enough weight fast enough".

Jonathan Torrens, who played J-Roc on the series, said on Twitter that "Dunsworth was all our father on set yet the biggest kid at heart" and that he was "curious, mischievous and spirited".

Actor Bernard Robichaud, who portrays Cyrus on the show, called Dunsworth a Canadian icon.

Dunsworth's death was announced on social media on Monday by the actor's daughter, Sarah Dunsworth, who also stars on "Trailer Park Boys".

Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson added, "My honest condolences to Sarah and family".

John had many remarkable and memorable moments on big as well as small screen, some of them are his role of newspaper editor Dave Teagues on Syfy's supernatural series Haven. It's quite possible no one has ever played a drunk better on screen than John Dunsworth - who is sober in real life. Overall Mr Lahey was known for loving the liquor and owning his drunkness throughout the show.
