Children shot an Northern California elementary school

The shooter, whose age or name has not yet been given, was shot and killed by police at the scene.

"At this point the suspected shooter is deceased by law enforcement bullets", Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told reporters.

Three people were shot and killed Tuesday when a shooter opened fire near a Northern California elementary school, authorities said.

The violence started at a home and moved to Tehama Elementary School.

The shooting was first reported around 8:15 a.m. PT. According to local law enforcement, there were "multiple victims in multiple locations". There are also reports of several people injured.

Rancho Tehama is a community of about 3,500 northwest of Corning.

"Our doors are locked", she said.
