Thieves tunnel 25 feet into bank near Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: Juhinagar branch of Bank of Baroda in Navi Mumbai was on the target of bank robbers, who performed their activities on the lines of a British Hollywood film, "The Bank Job'". The masterminds of the operation had rented a grocery store three shops next to the bank in June this year.

It is not a scene from a movie or some television series but a real-life incidence where some thieves dug a tunnel under a Navi Mumbai bank, broke into 30 lockers and stole valuables worth Rupees 5-6 crore, police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Tushar Doshi said it is "impossible to dig a tunnel ending exactly under the locker room without knowing the bank's layout". The bank officials and customers at the Navi Mumbai branch were in for a shock when they discovered their empty lockers on Monday morning.

Bank officials called the locker owners to the bank, and the police have been recording their statements.

Meanwhile, cops have already found the name of the person - Gena Prasad - who had rented the shop next to the bank.

Wall Street Analysts Forecast 8.6% on Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE:MRO)
In recent trading day Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC ) stock showed the move of 0.10% with the closing price of $61.72. The stock of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ:CHKP) earned "Buy" rating by Jefferies on Thursday, October 19.

While it is not clear when the incident took place as the bank was closed on Saturday and Sunday, the matter came to light only when a customer of Bank of Baroda had to go to his locker to deposit some valuables.

However, the alarming number of robberies in state-run banks, which many in India still consider a "safer" option as compared to their private banking counterparts, makes availing locker services an unintelligent bet.

The bank, incidentally, had not installed CCTV cameras in the locker room to protect the customer's privacy. He added that the police had found some leads and teams of officers and men were working on them.

It was reported that the robbers allegedly robbed valuables worth over Rs 40 lakh.
