The source told ESPN there is surveillance footage of the players shoplifting from three stores inside a high-end retail center. The athletes were unable to play in the game, and they remain in China awaiting their fate while the rest of their team returned to the USA days ago.

The relatively quick and painful resolution of the situation should be taken as a positive sign for not only the trio of UCLA players but for the Pac-12 as well.

Three UCLA basketball players accused of shoplifting in China last week were flying back to Los Angeles on Tuesday, the commissioner of the Pacific-12 athletic conference said, hours after US President Donald Trump said he asked his Chinese counterpart to help in the case.

"We are all very pleased that these young men have been allowed to return home", said Scott.

They did not travel home with the rest of the team, but the Wall Street Journal reported that the young men were seen at a Chinese airport Tuesday night checking into a flight bound for Los Angeles.

Kansas, though lacking depth, features a dynamic lineup staring Devonte Graham at point point. The Spartans are favorites to win the Big Ten over Purdue, Northwestern and others.

The players - Cody Riley, Jalen Hill and LiAngelo Ball - were reportedly arrested last Tuesday in Hangzhou, China, ahead of a season-opening game against Georgia Tech.

Initial reports suggested the players could remain in China for up to two months, depending on whether Chinese authorities chose to pursue an arrest, which would spark an investigation.

"What they did was unfortunate", Trump told reporters earlier in Manila. You are talking about long prison sentences. During the questioning, Ball, Hill and Riley were accompanied by interpreters and UCLA team representatives, according to ESPN. He added, "President Xi has been terrific on that subject".

UCLA was in China for a game against Georgia Tech in Shanghai, which the Bruins won 63-30 despite not the three arrested players not participating.

Three UCLA basketball stars may be left in China as allegations against them for shoplifting go through the legal system.
