I haven't expressed any views on 'Padmavati': Prasoon Joshi

The censor board chief Prasoon Joshi said that reports of him having watched Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmavati are baseless and untrue. Talking to TOI, Sharma said, "There is so much turmoil in the state, which is fast spreading to other parts of the country".

The letter by the state Home department also asked the Union Secretary of the Ministry to take public view and dissent on the matter into consideration before the film is allowed to be screened at cinema halls. "Demanding to ban the screening of the film, these organisations have been giving strong reactions through demonstrations, sloganeering, processions, memorandum and torching effigies".

The film stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. "And in case of the film's release on December 1, we will have to ensure the safety and security of theatres".

"In this environment if the movie is released, it could lead to widespread violence and law and order disturbances in the state of UP". The movie "Padmavati" is in the news as various organizations, political parties, and individuals standing up for the Rajput community. Among many controversies and objectionable instances in the film which have been drawn to the negotiating table, the protests has been about the Ghoomer Song in the film, which has already become a hit and also about an alleged dream sequence between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, which the makers have rejected that its there in the film.

The members of the Karni Sena have been protesting throughout the nation, seeking a ban on the film since they feel that Bhansali has distorted with historical facts.

Anxious over the mounting criticism, the UP's home department has cited intelligence inputs about anger and threats against movie's release as well as the fact that the release date coincides with declaration of UP civic poll results as well as Barawafat to defer the film release.
